Southern Skin and Wellness is located directly in the heart of the New Orleans CBD.
A medically supervised program means a clinical team monitoring your progress, your laboratory studies and your response to medication, and adjusting the plan as you go.
Rate of weight loss varies considerably between patients. Maintaining a result depends on continuing the changes established during the program, and Dr. Lindley will discuss what typically happens if and when medication is stopped.
Our program begins with a comprehensive evaluation, which leads to recommendations on lifestyle, nutrition, activity, prescription medication where it is clinically appropriate, and ongoing monitoring. What the program includes:

The program is offered as an all-inclusive monthly membership, so you know the cost up front rather than watching it accumulate visit by visit.
Membership includes access to Dr. Lindley, Kathryn, RN, our clinical pharmacist and our metabolic nutritionist throughout the program, prescriptions for prophylactic medications to manage side effects at no additional charge, and a discount on IV therapy.
We will go through exactly what is included, and what it costs, at your initial consultation.
This program begins with a physician evaluation. Dr. Lindley takes your history, asks about previous attempts at weight loss, and performs a physical exam. You will also undergo a body composition analysis and an initial weigh-in.
We'll then take a blood sample for laboratory analysis to screen for conditions that may contribute to or be associated with weight gain, such as thyroid dysfunction, dyslipidemia, diabetes, hormone imbalances, kidney dysfunction, and/or nutritional deficiencies. The laboratory studies help us identify and address any underlying condition you may have.
A metabolic nutritionist is part of our weight loss program and is available to meet with you whenever you request it. At your initial evaluation the nutritionist records your baseline parameters and designs a diet and exercise regimen around your results rather than a standard plan.
From there the nutritionist is available for follow-ups, weigh-ins and coaching as often as you want them. We use a biometric Bluetooth scale in the clinic to track body composition over the course of the program, and we recommend a similar at-home scale so you can follow the same measurements between visits.
Medication does part of the work. What you eat and how much you move determine whether the result holds after the program ends, which is why the nutritionist is included rather than sold as an add-on.
Dr. Lindley and our clinical pharmacist review your information together to determine whether prescription medication is appropriate for your weight loss program. That review covers interactions with your current medications and supplements, underlying medical conditions, family history and other factors.
Our clinical pharmacist is on call to answer questions and assist with dosing throughout the program, including after you have started a medication and are at home. The pharmacist also reviews how to administer the medication, walks through the side effects to expect, and schedules follow-up calls after you begin.
Several medications are available, working by different mechanisms — suppressing appetite, reducing cravings, slowing gastric emptying and increasing the feeling of fullness. The medications used most often in our program are GLP-1 receptor agonists:
Both brand-name and compounded options are available. These medications have real side effects, most commonly gastrointestinal. We include prescriptions for prophylactic medications to help manage them at no additional charge, and Dr. Lindley will review what to expect before you start.
Our medical weight loss program suits patients who have tried to lose weight on their own without lasting success. Whether the goal is ten pounds or a hundred, the first step is finding out what has been working against you — which is what the initial evaluation and blood panel are for.
We treat each patient individually and never use a one-size-fits-all approach. Your program is built around your evaluation, your laboratory results and your goals. What any individual achieves depends on their starting point, any underlying conditions and how closely the plan is followed. Dr. Lindley will give you a realistic picture at the outset rather than a promise.
