Start With What Bothers You

Cosmetic Dermatology

Most people arrive knowing what they don't like about their skin, not which treatment fixes it. That is the right order. Below are the concerns patients bring us most often, written the way patients describe them, with a plain indication of what generally addresses each one. Nothing here is a treatment plan. Dr. Michael Lindley, MD, examines your skin, determines which treatment will address what he finds, and builds your plan from there.

What Is Cosmetic Dermatology?

Cosmetic dermatology treats the appearance and condition of skin rather than disease. In practice that means pigment, redness and visible vessels, texture, scarring, laxity, volume, and unwanted hair — the things people notice in a mirror or a photograph. The work is done with lasers and light, injectable treatments, and clinical skincare, chosen for the specific problem in front of us. Dr. Lindley performs the laser and injectable treatments himself, assisted by Kathryn, RN.

Neck, Chest,

Hands & Body

Neck, chest and décolletage

The skin below the jaw ages faster than the face and is treated less often, which is why it is often what gives an age away. We treat it with the face rather than after it.

Hands

Brown spots, visible veins, thin crepey skin. Worth asking about, because almost nobody does.

Body

Unwanted hair anywhere. Acne and scarring on the back, chest and shoulders. Leg and spider veins. Stretch marks and surgical scars. Excessive sweating of the underarms, palms or face.

After weight loss

Weight is addressed through the medical weight loss program. Skin laxity that follows is a separate question, assessed on its own.

Facial Concerns

Find the one that sounds like you.

Pigment

Brown spots, sun spots, uneven tone, melasma, freckles. Light and resurfacing

Flat cheeks, folds, thin lips, eye hollows. Fillers

How We

Nothing on this page is a recommendation for your skin. It is a map from the problem you notice to the category of treatment that usually addresses it, so that you arrive able to say what is bothering you rather than guess at what to ask for.

At your consultation you complete a Cosmetic Interest Questionnaire, then your skin is imaged with VISIA, which measures pigment, redness, texture, pores and sun damage below the surface as well as at it.

Only then does Dr. Lindley examine your skin, decide which treatment will address what he finds, and build your plan. Frequently the treatment that addresses a concern is not the one a patient came in asking for, which is why the evaluation comes first and the recommendation second.

Name The Problem.

We'll Find The Fix.

If your concern is not listed here, bring it anyway. This page covers what we are asked about most often, not everything we treat or everything we will discuss. Some things are outside cosmetic dermatology — surgical lifts, implants, vein stripping, body contouring — and if that is what you need we will tell you plainly and point you to the right person rather than treat you for the sake of it.
