Revitalize Your Skin

Microneedling

Microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, prompting the skin's own repair process. It is used to address skin tone, texture, scarring and laxity. Whether it is the right treatment for your skin is something we assess at consultation.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a treatment intended to improve skin tone and texture. This minimally invasive treatment uses a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin surface — microchannels — which prompt the skin to repair and rebuild. Results develop gradually as the skin remodels, typically over several weeks, and vary between patients.

What Are the

Treatment Benefits?

Microneedling uses controlled micro-injury to prompt the skin's own repair process. What it can address, and how much, depends on the concern, your skin, and the number of sessions completed.

  • Stimulates collagen and elastin production
  • Minimal downtime for most patients
  • Topical numbing is applied before treatment for comfort
  • Treats the face, neck and other areas
  • Suitable for many skin types — Dr. Lindley will assess whether it is appropriate for yours

Most patients need a series of treatments. Results vary between patients and develop over weeks rather than days.

What Does Microneedling Treat?

Because microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin production in the deeper layers of the skin, it can treat several skin conditions and concerns. We can design treatment plans to treat the face and neck and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and scars from surgery or trauma to the skin. We can also use the device to treat skin laxity, improve skin tone and texture, shrink pores, and improve skin volume.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Patients will benefit from a single microneedling treatment, but the best results come from scheduling a series of at least three treatments with approximately one month between each. This treatment schedule allows for the most significant increase in natural collagen and elastin production and the most visible and longest-lasting results.

Once we learn more about your treatment goals and skin, we can design your custom-tailored treatment plan and provide you with a better idea of how many sessions it will take to achieve your desired results.

Is There Any Downtime?

Most patients have little or no social downtime after a microneedling treatment. Your skin may feel more sensitive and tight or appear red for the first 24 hours. This usually settles, and you may notice some peeling as the skin remodels. How long it lasts varies between patients.

Most people do not need to plan around downtime, but following the post-care instructions matters for healing and for the result.

What To Avoid

It would be best to avoid strenuous exercise or anything that causes you to sweat excessively for at least 24 hours after your treatment. It would help to avoid environments that increase your body temperature, including saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs.

We also recommend that patients temporarily discontinue certain topical products, specifically those with exfoliating ingredients. We will provide complete aftercare instructions and recommendations regarding which products to use to enhance your results and which products to temporarily discontinue until your skin has healed.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

Most patients notice brighter, smoother skin in the days following treatment. The more meaningful change comes later — as the skin remodels, collagen and elastin production increase gradually, and the final result of a series is typically evident around eight to twelve weeks after the last session.

How much improvement is achievable depends on your skin, your concern and how many sessions you complete. Dr. Lindley will tell you what is realistic for your particular concern before you start, rather than after.

Am I a Good Candidate?

The best candidates for this treatment are patients looking for an effective, professional treatment that can improve their skin with minimal downtime. Some patients, including those with active acne or a skin infection, may not qualify for this treatment for safety reasons. During an initial consultation, we can evaluate your skin and problem areas to confirm that microneedling is suitable for your skin.

Assessed First.

Then Treated.

If you are considering microneedling, we can assess your skin and discuss whether it is the right approach for what is bothering you — and what results are realistic for your skin, your concern, and the number of sessions you are prepared to complete.
